Program:  "The Lesbian Gay Bi Transgender Community Center of Metropolitan St. Louis -- the Center and You"

Presented by:  Blue, Executive Director of The Center

The LGBT Community Center of Metro St. Louis is here!  After over 4 years of work in August of 2008 we officially opened our doors.  We now have meeting rooms, an information area with community calendar, an exhibit area and an up and coming multi-media library.  We already have many meetings and gatherings at The Center and in March The Center will start it's regular programming.

Blue will tell us about The Center and what The Center can offer us.  We will also have a discussion on those topics along with what the community needs from older adults.

Our E.D. has been an LGBT activist for almost 20 years.  Starting in college at The University of Southern California as a leader with the university's LGBT student organization, then called GLASS {The Gay and Lesbian Assembly for Student Support}, Blue began her activist leader education for the next 5 years.  After leaving she was involved with various LGBT community organizations in Los Angeles along with independently creating workshops for local and national events.  In 2001 she returned to St. Louis and in 2004 with her partner, Shan, and other St.Louis LGBT Community members starting working on creating an LGBT community center for St. Louis.  She works daily to serve the LGBT Community of Metro St. Louis and also connect our community with the larger national and international LGBT Community.

A Social Hour with food will follow the program.

A donation of $2.00 ($4.00 for non-members) is requested to cover meeting room and refreshment costs.
