| Saturday September 10 1:00 PM Meeting 2:45 PM Special Social Hour & Artist Reception | Monthly Membership Meeting
Lafayette Park United Methodist Church 2300 Lafayette Ave. (in Lafayette Square) Click here for directions. Program: Gay Parenting and Grandparenting Join us for a moderated group discussion on the day before “National Grandparents Day”. We will explore the implications of being a Gay or Bi parent, grandparent, uncle, or supportive friend - OR perhaps you have been NONE of these. Either way, the relationships we have/had with our family members (or those of other families) can have an impact on our lives, the lives of others, and especially on society at large. You may wish to share a short story or two of how having kids (or not) has changed how you live as a Gay or Bi man. After the meeting, in place of our usual social hour, we will have: A SPECIAL Prime Timers St. Louis Reception, Art Showing and Optional “Wine and Cola Tasting” At 110 North Newstead, Unit 302 Drive or car pool to this Special “Social Hour (or Two)” at the nearby condo of PTSL member and up and coming artist Jack Skay (3.4 miles / 7 minutes away - directions and maps provided at the meeting). Jack will host this event, including a bartender, soft drinks, appetizers and a showing of his latest paintings (before they are installed at a local art gallery). “Jack Skay is an emerging talented artist. After 15 years of retirement, Jack, who always had a desire to be creative, decided to let his imagination run wild and put brush-to-canvas. He describes his own paintings as fun and youthful while at the same time signifying deep meaning.” Art-Patrol St. Louis Here we will also hold an OPTIONAL “Wine and Cola Tasting”.
If you wish to participate in the “Blind” Wine Tasting, be sure to bring a standard sized $10 OR LESS bottle of white OR red wine. Just write your name and price paid on the label and bring it to the social hour. We will choose 4 whites and 4 reds to use for a fun (and very non-scientific/non-“purist”) blind taste test. All wine bottles not selected for use will be given as participant prizes, so you might “win” your bottle of wine back.
Participants in the Cola Tasting will compete in a “blind” taste test to rank and guess the brand of four different colas. Results are likely to be surprising. Prizes for participants are – you guessed it – six packs of cola!
Following this social hour (or two), some members may wish to join others for an early dinner at nearby Wild Flower restaurant (a special discounted fixed menu is being negotiated).
Suggested Donation: $2.00 for members; $4.00 for non-members (at the meeting)
